Helen Bensing

Helen W. Bensing passed away on May 25, 2023, just three weeks short of her 96th birthday. She led a good life, but a hard one. She grew up in Germany during World War II, twelve years old when the war started, eighteen when it ended. She lost her youngest son and her husband of 49 years within two months in 1998. She persevered, and charmed everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She spent the later years in her life talking to high school classes about her experiences growing up in Hitler's Germany, and doing her part to make sure that no one would forget the horrors of the Holocaust. She left behind a son, Russell, a nephew, Siegfried Gross, a granddaughter, Ellen Fry, two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Leo, and a world that was made better by her being in it.

There will be a memorial service for Helen at 11:00 A.M. on June 17, 2023, at the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church at 300 East Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
