In Loving Memory of Joyce H. Butler November 8, 2025.
Joyce H. Butler was a woman of strength, warmth, and unwavering love. She was "Momma" to many, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her. She loved working outside-whether in her garden or sitting peacefully on the porch watching hummingbirds dance in the air. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she looked forward to church and especially Vacation Bible School each year, where she delighted in taking her beloved great-grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Momma knew her heart belonged to her dogs just as much as it did to her family. She never met a stray she didn't love, and they returned that love with loyalty and joy. Her dogs were her companions, her comfort, and her joy. Joyce was one of the strongest, hardest-working people you could ever meet. She loved having people around and made everyone feel welcome. Her home was filled with laughter, love, and the gentle presence of those she held dear.
On her wall hung the Serenity Prayer, a reflection of the grace and wisdom she lived by every day:
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Butler; her father Jack Green and mother Ina Green; brothers June and Sonny Green; sister Juanita Jones; and the father of her children, Garner Bloomer.
She is survived by her daughter Jackie Trent of Florida; sons Terry Bloomer (wife Joanie) and Mickey Bloomer of Treadway, Tennessee. Grandchildren include Rusty Davis (wife Annie) of St. Augustine, Florida; Shawn Bloomer, Travis Bloomer (wife Tasha), Terri Bloomer-Leach, Tori Smith (husband Caleb), and Maleah Morgan (husband Tractor), all of Tennessee. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and three beautiful great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Peggy Matthews (husband Gary) and sister-N-law Elaine Greene.
Joyce will forever be missed and always loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, the flowers she nurtured, and the dogs she cherished.
Scripture Reflection
John 11:25-26
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.

When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
Are filled with tears for me
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today
While thinking of so many things
We didn't get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
And each time you think of me
I know you'll miss me too
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
And said my place was ready
In Heaven far above
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But when I walked through Heavens gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From His great golden throne
He said this is eternity
And all I promised you
Today your life on earth is past
But here it starts anew
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past
So when tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart
For every time you think of me
I'm right here in your heart
