Helen Maxine Davis, 76, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026.
She was born March 27, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of James Wesley and Doris Marie (Hiser) Watkins. She was a graduate of Topeka West High School and attended Washburn University in Topeka and American River College in Sacramento, California.
Helen was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Craig Home Care until retiring.
She married Gilberto Rodriguez in Topeka. They later divorced. Survivors include her daughter, Katherine M. Howard of Topeka; five grandchildren, Keith Fraenza, Gaylord Howard III, Phillip Howard Kayla M. Howard and Malynda D. Howard all of Topeka; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Howard and Romeo James Mason, her sister, Lyn (Anthony) Alexander of Topeka; her brother, Randall Watkins, Milwaukie, WI; and two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Irene Cheney; her sister, Sue Beth Kruger; and her brother, James Watkins.
Helen loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to music, car rides, crocheting, watching her favorite John Wayne western movies, the TV series Walker Texas Ranger and her feline friends.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. No services are planned at this time. Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Topeka is assisting the family.
