Helen Louise Doty, age 91, passed away on January 8, 2026, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, following a fall.
She was born on June 11, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa. Helen resided for many years in West Hills, California. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Visitation High School in Dubuque and devoted much of her life to serving others through her work in healthcare reception and her many years of volunteer service. She retired from West Hills Hospital’s Pregna-Gym, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness, and dedication.
Helen was known for her compassionate, giving, and loving nature. She found great joy in creating beauty and comfort for those around her and took particular pride in her collection of Department 56 Christmas village pieces. Her elaborate and memorable holiday displays were a cherished tradition and brought enjoyment to family and friends.
She is survived by her partner, Marv Mushkot; her children, Eileen Williams, Debbie Arnold, Michael (Denise) Plato, Janice (Louis) McNulty, Juli Plato, Angela Romero, and Ron Doty; her grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Burns, Jonathan (Sara) Plato, Christopher (Amada) Romero, Derek (Scar) Plato, Rebecca (Alec) Reeves, Nichole Plato, and Kathrine (Christian) Valdez; her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Charlotte, Carter, Thecla, and Helen; and her sister, Mary Seitz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Doty; her daughter, Patricia Plato; her sons-in-law, Richard Romero and Mark Williams; and her siblings, William Powell, Elizabeth Taglieri, and Patricia Powell.
A memorial service will be held on January 30, 2026, at Rose Family Mortuary in Simi Valley, California. Interment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California.
