Helen Jones Douglass

DOUGLASS - Helen Jones Douglass of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Oct. 13, 2025.
She was born April 18, 1941; she was 84 years old and passed away in Hospice care due to pancreatic cancer.
Her paternal parents were David Coleman Jones and Lora Mae Jones of Starke, Fla. Her guardian parents were Edison Casey II and Lois Casey of St. Marys, Ga.
Helen graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1959, where she was homecoming queen and performed in a little women's beauty pageant. Helen graduated from cosmetology school in Kingsland, Ga., and worked for Neval's Hair Salon. She also attended DMA's Business School in Jacksonville, Fla., and became a licensed Florida real-estate agent with Amelia Realty. She owned 24% of Casey's Inc. and was owner/manager of Casey's in Gainesville, Fla., and Casey's Pecan Park Road off of I-95. She, along with her previous husband, Ken Braddock, owned and operated Braddock's Ace Hardware in Yulee, Fla.
Her hobbies were growing plants, interior decorating, entertaining friends and flipping houses.
In 1960, she married Ken E. Braddock, and they had one son, Mikeal S. Braddock, who was born 1963.
She is predeceased by her late husband, Larry Douglass of Lake City Fla., and sister, Bonnie Fae Jones of Savannah, Ga.
She is survived by her son, Michael S. Braddock; sisters, Margie Hodges Mongin of South Carolina, and Bonita Pitts Casey of St. Marys, Ga.; brothers, Lee Jones of Rentz, Ga., Franklin D. Jones of North Carolina, and Fabe Lewis Jones (Buddy) of Mississippi; grandchildren, Ryan M. Braddock, Matthew S. Braddock, Chandler L. Hall and Alyssa N. Braddock; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are two devoted lifelong friends, Lavern Hamilton and Sandra De Shields of Fernandina Beach, Fla.
There will be a small graveside service 10 a.m. Nov. 24, 2025, at Bosque Bello.
