Helen 'Helci' Ellis, 86, of Matawan, passed away peacefully on October 29th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was a devoted Mother of three, proud Grandmother to eight, and adoring Great-Grandmother, 'GG', to fifteen.
Born on September 19th, 1939, to John and Rose (Valerian) Ellis, Helen spent most of her early years in Bloomfield, later raising her family in Edison, before ultimately settling in Matawan later in life. She held various roles across a lengthy and extended career, finally retiring at the ripe old age of 77.
Helen cherished any moment spent with her loved ones. Her favorites included family vacations in Ocean City, day trips with the grandkids to the Wildwood Boardwalk, trips to Friendly's for crispy French fries and Coneheads, and treating the whole family to comped buffet dinners in Atlantic City. An avid lottery player, she was determined to one day win the big jackpot and share it with her family. Her loved ones were a permanent fixture in her daily thoughts, and no trip, however big or small, would be complete without a traffic and weather report issued by Helci.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Louella and Elizabeth 'Sister Joselma'; and her great-grandson, Christian. She is survived by her children, Robert (Donna) Belliveau, Lynn (Kenneth) Mantz, and Sherry Farrell; grandchildren, William (Christina) Hincher, Heather (Patrick) Lyczkowski, Nicole Farrell, Matthew (Leah) Mantz, Lindsay Belliveau, Samantha (Timothy) Hydock, Robert (Hana) Belliveau, and Kimberly (Craig) Sowder; and her beautiful great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, at 10:00 am, at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, HeartWorks (CHD research) or The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Our 'Helci'-to which she would respond, 'I'll give you Helci!' - will be deeply missed and always in our hearts.
