TICONDEROGA. Helen H. (Hogle) Gibbs, a life- long resident of Ticonderoga, NY, passed away at the Elderwood Nursing Home, in Ticonderoga, NY on October 26, 2022, at the age of 88.
Helen was born on April 6, 1934, the daughter of Ross and Nora (Thatcher) Hogle.
Helen was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School and soon after married her husband Ken Gibbs on April 5,1953.
Ken and Helen lived in Ticonderoga most of their married lives. In 1960, they opened Ken Gibbs Plumbing and Heating in Ticonderoga and served the surrounding community for many years. She also took great pride in owning and operating "Wee Folks Boutique", a Children's boutique for many years. She also worked for Silver Bay, The Super 8 Motel, and as an operator for NY Telephone.
Helen is survived by her son, William Gibbs (Kathy) of Arizona; and daughter, Lorna (Gibbs) Shelton of Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Gibbs and his significant other Rene Sprague of Crown Point, NY, Nikki Gibbs and her significant other Brady Johnson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Blair Linton and her husband Lee of Statesboro, Georgia, Kenzie Easter and her husband Ricky of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ian Croto and his significant other Rebecca of Rotterdam, NY; also, many great- grandchildren, Kendra, Adriana, Jayden, Tanner, and Deagan Gibbs, Jackson and Allison Linton, Liam Easter, and Collin and Savannah Croto; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Ross and Nora; and her husband Ken. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Donald, Richard, and William Hogle, and her sister Jean (Hogle) Bartlett. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Patricia Gibbs.
Helen was an active member of the community most of her life, belonging to several organizations in the area. Helen had one that was incredibly special to her, The Tiny Tim Program of Ticonderoga. She was a part of the program for more than 20 years, becoming the Chairwomen in 1995. Every holiday season, Helen spent most of her time shopping and preparing for the families in need in the area. She spent many long days making sure everything was perfect for each family she helped.
She also enjoyed traveling anywhere, but her favorite place was Nashville, Tennessee. She collected Christmas ornaments from all over in her travels.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Tyler, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.
Interment will directly follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
