Helen Elaine Gilbert

1947 - 2023

Age 76, of Alma, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at her home with family by her side. Helen was born February 16, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Ralph and Siddona (Staylor) Hilyard. She graduated from Owosso High School and then earned her Cosmetology Degree. Helen married Russell "Jim" Gilbert on January 27, 1968. She also worked for Rite-Aid for many years. Helen enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Elizabeth (Douglas) Yura, grandchildren Dereck Skidmore, Christopher Kirk, Keisha Andrews, Katie Gilbert, Robert Gilbert Jr., great grandchildren Ryan, Caden, Cobi, Fyona, Maci, Silas, Hudson, Sophie, Charlie, Bentley, Kam, Moon, Nyla, Emmett, sister Kathy (Larry) Williams and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert Gilbert, grandson Randy Skidmore, brothers Riley, Curtis, Ken, Bob, Dan and step-brothers Joe and Bill. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
