Helen Joyce Henderson went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born in San Antonio Texas on 18 February 1990 to Elaine Henderson. She loved life, and even after going through really rough times, and bearing her share of life's ups and downs she was beginning to make amends to herself and to loved ones.
She attended Fairborn City Schools in Fairborn Ohio. She loved sports, and played basketball. She loved to learn how to play different instruments - she played the violin, the piano, and the bass guitar. She worked at a variety of jobs working with the public.
Helen had a wonderful full laugh that would make you laugh right along with her. She liked all kinds of music, particularly rock and soul and metal. Yep, head banging stuff. She loved to dance, and would be the first to be a volunteer from the audience.
She didn't like surprises. Her mom would trick her into going to thrift stores by asking her to "just go here or there" with her. Every year on her birthday, we would go to Golden Corral, and she acted like she was surprised when the staff came out to sing Happy Birthday!
Her friends were few but cherished. She was a loyal friend and always ready to help you.
She leaves in her legacy her beautiful daughter Amariah Alaina Henderson, her mother and father, Michael and Elaine King, her brothers Robert Henderson and Jamon (Samantha) King, her sister Chaka (Richard) King, her fiancée Adam Alexander and his mother Beulah Richards and his sister Amie Smith, her aunts Pam (Larry) Fannon, Carolyn Henderson, Pat Thompson, and Beverly King; uncles Earnest Thompson and Larry (Sheryl) , and cousins Ehmil Henderson and Eboni Henderson, uncles Douglas Henderson and Earnest Thompson, and special aunts and uncles Joan Chisley, Deborah Holloway, Eula Hunter and James Jackson, and many other family and friends. Preceded in homecoming by her namesake great-grandmother Helen Louise Henderson and great-grandfather, Clyde Henderson, and her grandmother Joyce Lee Poole, grandparents Charles and Edith King, aunt Valerie Bell, and father Derrick Jove Harris.
Donations are not expected but are appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 10am - 11am with a funeral service beginning at 11am, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn, OH.
