Helen Kosten Obituary
Helen Kosten, a beloved member of her family, passed away on September 12, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 8, 1929, in Ukraine, Helen lived a life that reflected her identity as a true citizen of the world. Throughout her journey, she called many places home, including Austria, Argentina, and Chicago.
Helen was a devoted wife to her late husband, Victor and proud mother to her three children: George, Susana, and Edward. She cherished her role as a grandmother, lovingly referred to as "Baba" by her 13 grandchildren, and she took great joy in being a great grandmother to 17 great grandchildren.
Outside of her professional life as a nurse, Helen found joy in various hobbies. She loved traveling and took her family all over the world. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with the ones she loved.
Helen's kindness and caring spirit shone through in both her personal and professional endeavors, touching the lives of those around her.
Helen is preceded in death by her loving parents, Ivan and Olga, as well as her brother, Boris. She will be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her warmth and dedication to those she loved.
Services will be held on Sunday, September 21st at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church (6655 W. Higgins Ave. Chicago, Il 60656) at 12:30p.
