Helen Sheets Phillips

Mrs. Helen Sheets Phillips, moved to her heavenly home on, Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve LeaShomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Burkett Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the funeral services.

She was born on February 25, 1931 in Ashe County to the late Robert Glenn Sheets and Virginia Harris Sheets Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Phillips, three children, Dwight Phillips, Sandy Phillips Blevins, and Darrell Phillips, and her siblings, Jean Campbell, Bobbie Marsh, Betty Dawn, Gale Sheets, Kenneth Sheets, and Bill Sheets.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Twyla Phillips Smith (John), and Kathy Phillips, two sisters, Sharon Johnson and Joann Shore, seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Helen was the oldest of nine children. She always carried a special place in her heart for all of her children and grandchildren who affectionately called her "Granny". Always available and willing to babysit.

Helen was known for her wonderful cooking and provided many delicious meals, always wondering if she had enough food. She also loved her punchwork embroidery for many years. Giving most of her beautiful projects to her children and loved ones. Coloring became her favorite pastime in later years, and she shared many of them with family and friends who came to visit.

Until she became disabled, she not only works at Sprague Electric and Southern Devices, she also helped Carl on the farm as well as keeping her family well fed.

She loved her Gospel music and many times you could hear it playing before you got to her door. She also took great comfort in reading her Bible and many times you would find her doing just that when you went for a visit.

She also loved going shopping with her daughters. She could spend hours at Belks, Walmart, and T.J. Maxx just looking at everything and declaring "Shew that's high".

The family would like to thank some of the wonderful staff at Margate who cared for mom over the past few years and a special thank you to the special staff of Hospice who helped us make mom's final days more comfortable. We know mom shared that sweet smile of hers with all of you.
