Helen Rivenbark Obituary
Helen Rae Rivenbark, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in the city of her birth, Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on December 20, 1942, she lived a full and vibrant life of 82 years.
Helen was a woman of deep faith and strength, known for her unwavering love of the Lord. A devoted charter member of Olivet Baptist Church, she proudly participated in the first Sunday School class and later became a valued member of the First Baptist Church of Leland, where she found solace and fellowship throughout her life.
Her career spanned many years in the textile industry, and she later retired from Northchase Rehab as a respected housekeeper. Helen had an unparalleled passion for cleaning and loved shopping, activities that provided her with joy and fulfillment.
Family was central to Helen's life. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Helen and Arnold Ferris; her son, Gary Rivenbark; and her brother, Robert Rogers. Her enduring legacy is carried on by her husband of 65 years Edgar Thomas Rivenbark, daughter, Diane Bridgers, and son-in-law, Tim. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Timothy Bridgers (Brooke), Jeffery Bridgers, and Ashley Holden (Bryant). Her great-grandchildren-Gavin Bridgers, Eva Bridgers, Avery Hempson, August Bridgers, Theia Bridgers, and Everett Holden: sister Betty Cottle and sister-in-law Mary Rogers all who will continue to carry forward her memory and love.
In addition to her immediate family, Helen is survived by her extended daughter, Terrie Hollis-Sasser, and many nieces and nephews who held her in high regard. She was a pillar of strength and warmth to all who knew her, a testament to her devotion and unyielding spirit.
Helen Rae Rivenbark will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the eternal love of her Savior.
A visitation will be 11am Saturday, August 16, 2025 with memorial service to follow 12pm at Olivet Baptist Church 138 Glendale Drive Wilmington NC 28401 with Pastor Billy Fowler and Wayne Cottle officiating.
