Helen Ann Shaw, 101, was welcomed to the new Eden by her Lord and Savior on His feast of Christ the King, Sunday, November 21, 2021.
A long-time resident of New Hartford, Helen was born on October 1, 1920, the youngest child of John and Anastasia (Borowiec) Kaminski.
Helen was a warm and affable woman, traits that served her well over her many years in the hospitality business. She was active in her church as a lector and was delighted to be the person who sponsored the painting of St. Nicholas in Holy Trinity Church, Christmas being her favorite holiday. Helen was a talented artist in her own right, rustic settings and barns being her subjects of choice. Much of the Lenten season was spent painting scenes on wooden eggs that would go to her friends. Helen's greatest love, however, was God's green earth and the flowers it produced. She took great pride and satisfaction in her large rock garden and in the many other floral arrangements that surrounded her house.
Helen was predeceased by her beloved sister, Victoria Giffune; and brothers, Joseph and Francis Kaminski and Walter Cummings.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. immediately following visitation. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
