Helen M. Stalman

Helen Marie Stalman passed away at the age of 88 in Memphis, TN on Oct. 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Louis John Stalman. She had been lovingly cared for by her children in her fight against Alzheimer's Disease. Her daughter Linda and her son-in-law Dan were by her side on her last day on this earth before going to her new home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her daughter Linda married to Dan Hoeksema, their children Scott, Jennifer, Marc, Lisa, and Bethany. Her son John Stalman and wife Carole, their children Jesse, Stacey, Jodi, Raymond, and Katie. Her son Jim Stalman and wife Jan, their children Sherri, Michael, Melissa, and Sarah. Her brother Ken Gorter and wife Sonok, their children Kim, Dwayne, and Diane and had 24 great-grandchildren.

Helen was a wonderful, loving wife and mother; and she was loved by all who knew her. She was a caring, Christian woman who wanted everyone to come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Her love for God and His word, her comfort and ours also, is summed up by what is said in the Heidelberg Catechism 1. "Q : What is your only comfort in life and in death? A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood and has set me free from all power of the devil."

She will be greatly missed but we rejoice with her and look forward to the day when all of her brothers and sisters in Christ will be united with her in heaven.

There will be a graveside gathering with her family in Chicago at the Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's at http://act.alz.org/goto/Helenspage.
