Helen Tranthem Obituary

Helen Brenda Tranthem, 92, of Epworth, went to her heavenly home, Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Helen was a devoted wife to the late Edward Tranthem for 53 years.
They had four children, Brenda Long, Patricia Thomas (John), Cindy Taylor (BJ), and Michael Tranthem (Shelia).
Helen's children are comforted knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior whom she loved with all her heart.
She was born February 7, 1931, to the late Ebb Green and Lillie Stepp Green Tranthem.
Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Epworth where she enjoyed being a part of the Joy Sunday School class and the Quilting Ministry, and participating in a variety of church activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Tranthem; son-in-law, Howard Long; grandson-in-law, Tim Walden; sister, Peggy Thompson and brother, Lloyd Stepp.
Helen is survived by nine grandchildren whom she loved dearly and prayed for daily; Rebekah Walden, Tim Long (Jennifer), Sara Johnson (John), Julie Roberts (Kenneth), Randy Thomas, Christopher Thomas (Teresa), Aaron Taylor, Matthew Taylor (Misty), and Justin Tranthem; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Joann Young, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Epworth with Bro. Bob Becker and Bro. Chris Clark officiating. Music provided by Vernon Owenby and Tammy Mason.
Grandsons serving as pallbearers were Tim Long, John Johnson, Kenneth Roberts, Randy Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Aaron Taylor, Matthew Taylor, and Justin Tranthem. Honorary pallbearers were Joy Sunday School Class and Quilting Ministry members.
The family received friends at the Epworth First Baptist Church Monday, May 1, 2023, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
