Helen Karides Trivelas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
She was born on December 21, 1924, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Lily Karides. Helen was a proud graduate of John Harris High School in Pennsylvania and went on to build a long and dedicated career as secretary to the headmaster at the Albany Academy, where she was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and quiet kindness. In her spare time, Helen was an avid reader and loved growing flowers.
On July 2, 1944, Helen married the love of her life, Nicholas Trivelas, whom she knew since childhood. Together they shared many happy years of marriage until his passing on September 1, 1987. Nicholas proudly served in the United States Navy, a service Helen always honored and supported with pride.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; her husband Nicholas; her son James Trivelas; her siblings Harriet, Pauline, George, and Gus; and her grandson Robert Desautels.
She is survived by her loving sister, Anastasia; her children, Peter Trivelas and Lillian Desautels; and her cherished grandchildren Nika Desautels Schena, Rebecca Fouts, Peter Trivelas, and Jon Trivelas. Helen also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Nicholas Desautels, Ryan Desautels, Megan Schena, Rachael Desautels, Emily Schena, Max Trivelas, Harrison Trivelas, Eleanor Trivelas, Willa Trivelas, Justin Fouts, Alison Fouts, and David Fouts, and great-great-granddaughter, Eleanor Ann Desautels, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on January 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A spiritual Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
