Helen A. Van Loo

Passed away Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2023. Helen was born December 23, 1931 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Harold and Annetta (Sterenberg) Van Loo. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Hope College. Helen taught English and Social Studies in several middle and high schools in Grandville, Palm Beach County, Portage, Grosse Pointe, and Vicksburg Adult Ed. She was an active member of Second Reformed Church and in the Edison Neighborhood Association. Helen enjoyed gardening, reading, spending summers at her cottage on Higgins Lake, and animals, especially dogs. She also enjoyed traveling to Europe and around the United States. Helen is survived by her nephew, Randall (Ellen) Barnes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary Barnes. Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 22 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S. Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
