Helen R. Vande Zande, 91, of Waupun, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Randolph Health Services.
Helen was born October 11, 1932 in the town of Alto, Fond du Lac County, the daughter of Theodore and Hattie Schouten TerBeest. On July 11, 1951 she married Donald J. Vande Zande. Helen and Don farmed in the Waupun area until 1980 at which time they moved to Waupun. Helen was employed at Hopp’s Restaurant and at Elaine’s Restaurant in Waupun, retiring at 84 from Helen’s Kitchen. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a member of First Reformed Church.
Helen is survived by her daughters: Marcia Paul and Lori (Richard) Smith; sons: Darrell (Lisa) Vande Zande and Dean Vande Zande; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws: Darlene Ter Beest and Pat Ter Beest; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Vande Zande; a son, Dennis Vande Zande; a grandson, Scott Smith; Son in Law Mark Paul; three sisters: Arlene Schouten, Dorothy Daane, and Junice Vande Zande; and eight brothers: Edward, Gordon, Melvin, Leonard, Harold, Earl, Donald, and Ken TerBeest.
Funeral services for Helen Vande Zande will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
