Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory on Sep. 22, 2025.
Helen Huntley Wall passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. Helen was born in Monticello, Georgia, to Wilburn Edward Huntley and Dorothy Hill Huntley. A proud member of the Warner Robins High School Class of 1955, Helen started dating the love of her life, Thomas David Wall, while they were both working at the local movie theater during high school. They married soon after and shared 62 wonderful years together.
As a military spouse, Helen devoted herself to her family through nine moves during Thomas's 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. She often said she served right alongside him-as any military family understands. She enjoyed every place they were stationed, but especially loved the tour they spent at "The Goose" in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada. When the family moved to the Florida Panhandle, Helen worked for the Department of Immigration and Naturalization at the Vietnamese Refugee Camp before beginning a long and successful career in the banking industry as a mortgage underwriter with Engel Mortgage Company, First National Bank and Trust, and Baker & Lindsey, Inc.
Helen lived for her family. Like many Southern women, she showed her love through food and hospitality, always making sure the table was as beautiful as the meal she served. She enjoyed planning and celebrating every holiday, birthday, and special occasion and always made each one memorable. Her family fondly said that Martha Stewart had nothing on Helen. She adored her many pets and considered them members of the family, too. They brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Thomas, and her younger brother, William Joseph Huntley. She is survived by her daughters, Shari Wall Helton ( Rock Hill, SC) and Karen Hartley Fillingim and husband David (Miramar Beach, Fl); her siblings, Patricia Huntley Bryan ( Indian Land, SC) and Robert Edward Huntley and wife Donna (Dawsonville, GA) and her cherished grandchildren: Thomas Blaine Helton and wife Jessica (Sharon, SC) Kari Ann Helton (Columbia, SC), and Raymond "Trey" Hartley III and wife Sierra (Charleston, SC) Helen was especially proud of her "Carolina Girls," her great-granddaughters Georgia Estelle, Emma Louise, and Caroline Mae Helton. Helen is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who were very near to her heart.
A Celebration of Life and interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alaqua Animal Refuge, 155 Dugas Way, Freeport, FL 32439.
