Helen V. Williams

Helen V. Williams, 93, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. Helen, the last surviving was the fourth of the late Ernest and Goldie McCoy's nine children, was born on August 9, 1932, in Saltillo, Mississippi.

Helen graduated from Denmark High, in Jackson, Tennessee and later moved to Chicago, Illinois in the mid-1950s. She married Garfield Williams, and four children were born to this union: Debra, Bruce, Victor, and Scherry.

Helen worked faithfully for many years at the US Postal Service until her retirement.

Helen enjoyed cooking and had a keen interest in political coverage. She loved going to Vegas annually for her birthday.

Helen's grandchildren were her pride and joy. Helen was a stern grandmother who spoke her mind but had a lot of love for her grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her ex-husband Garfield Williams, her daughter Debra Williams, her sons, Bruce Willams and Garfield "Victor" Williams, her brothers, Issac McCoy and Paul McCoy, and her sisters Mattie Burress, Prince Ella Boykins, Luedora Ingram, Florence McCoy, Charlene Purnell, and Pauline McCoy.

Helen leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Scherry Williams, her grandchildren, Tiffany Winters, Charvis Williams, and Viktoria Williams, and her great-grandchildren, Elijah Williams and Noah Williams.
