Helenea Mary Ballard

Taken from this world far too soon, our Mama, Helenea Ballard, took her final breath on October 13, 2024. Born February 27, 1957, to Earline Harris and Ed Woodward Sr (raised by Leo Pratt Sr), Mama was always a force to be reckoned with. She was always stubborn, opinionated, feisty and was never afraid to tell you how she felt - traits she instilled in both of her children. Whether running errands or seeing friends, she was always in the Burlington area, riding CCTA (GMTA) buses and causing trouble. Nothing changed when she moved to Saint Albans, except this time she had her hot pink electric scooter to run around in the city, and (unsafely) in the Town. Mama loved her country music, bingo and car rides to the casino.
Although she successfully fought several types of cancer and medical emergencies, it was an aggressive, cancerous tumor that took her from us after just 3 short weeks of discovery.
Mama is survived by her daughter Jenn McSweeney (and her spouse Lloyd Jr), her son, Eric Ballard (and his partner Jen), her two reasons to fight to live - grandchildren, Kaleb and Charlotte McSweeney, her sister Betsy Whitney (and her spouse Larry Sr), niece Mary Whitney (and her partner Mike), nephews Larry Whitney Jr and Christopher Whitney (and his spouse Kaitland), brother Robert Woodward and half-siblings Tim Woodward, Steve Woodward, Leo Pratt Jr, Susan Santor, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Ed Jr, niece, Beth Jimmo, step-sister Patty Chapman and her sleeping babies, David and Tiffany.
A Celebration of Life will be held, with details provided accordingly, and a burial will follow.
