Helga Korfage Obituary
Service: All are welcome at the Celebration Ceremony at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 in the Woodshed at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th Street, SW; Byron Center, MI 49315
Cemetery: She donated her remains to Michigan State University and after her remains are returned to the family she will be laid to rest near her mother in Georgetown Township Cemetery.
Helga M. Korfage, age 95, of Wyoming, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. Helga was born in New York where she and her husband raised their family, then moved to Boulder City, Nevada, in 1972, before moving to Michigan to be close to her daughters in 2006. She enjoyed painting, reading, making jewelry and traveling in the US and abroad. Helga, affectionately known as "Oma", especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Along with being a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's scout troop, she volunteered for many organizations including her church, Boulder City Hospital, and Love INC, where she organized display cases. Her former husband, Robert Scaringi; and parents, William and Anne Korfage; preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deb Nienhuis, Robert (Connie) Scaringi, Kathy Carabellese; grandchildren, Mike (Karrie) Nienhuis, Lori (Greg) VanKoevering, Brian (Amy) Nienhuis, Jose (Aracely) Avalos, Nathan Scaringi, Rebekah (Ruben) Davila, Francis (Sheilah) Carabellese, Suzanne (EJ) Bergmans, Andrew Carabellese, Joseph (Angela) Carabellese, Micah (Brooke) Carabellese; 24 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. Helga donated her remains to Michigan State University to help new doctors in their learning process. A Service in Celebration of Helga's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2025; with visitation following the service in the Woodshed, at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th Street, SW; Byron Center, MI 49315.

Please accept my condolences, to all family members of Helga. She was a faithful friend and prayer warrior. She not only cared deeply about her family, but also for others. I won't forget her positive attitude. I rejoice she is home with her Savior, and look forward to seeing her again.
