Discovered Henning Mankell's work 15 years ago and have greatly enjoyed all his work since then; a great loss all too early. Condolences to the Mankell family.

The loss of this thoughtful and humane man came as a shock to me. Mankell's death signifies to me something like the passing of an age of cultural doubt, an age of alienation and uncertainty which he so ably explored and dissected in his writings.
Mankell deployed a timely wrecking ball to comfortable illusions we shared about Sweden and its place in the world.

He will be sadly missed.

I to have loss loved one's, so I understand some of your pain that you're feeling. While doing some reading I came across a scripture that gave me some comfort. May it do the same for you.-2 Kings 20:5. I heard your Prayers, I saw your tears, I will heal you. I hope that you are comforted in knowing that a stranger will have you and your family in there Prayers to night. Please accept my humble condolences.

My greatest wish was to meet Henning Mankell one day, it's not to be, in heaven..I have never read anything so close to the heart of Africans like in his books about Africa. A part of his soul is African. May he celebrate life with African ancestors and may his family be comforted, rest in peace
