Henrietta Murphy

Henrietta D. Murphy, of Pearl River, New York, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 23, 2026, at The Willows of Ramapo. She was 92 years old.

Henrietta was born in 1933 in her family home on Center Street in Pearl River to German immigrant parents who proudly fulfilled their American dream as the owners of Hansen's Delicatessen, a cherished local business in the Pearl River community. She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter, with three brothers who served their country with honor, including former Rockland County Clerk Gus Hansen.

Henrietta was a woman of deep faith and a hardworking and devoted member of her community. She worked as an inspector for Materials Research Corporation in Pearl River and later became a beloved cashier at ShopRite of Pearl River, where she was warmly known and appreciated by customers and colleagues alike.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Walter G. Murphy, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran.

Henrietta is survived by her four children: her beloved and devoted daughters Patricia Stark(Brian)of Blauvelt, New York and Kathleen Murphy-Reguzzoni(Dino) of Maryland; her beloved son Mark Murphy(Ajai) of Oregon; beloved daughter in-law Ruth Murphy of Savannah GA, and her estranged son Michael Murphy of Albany, New York. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Logan Stark, Brian Young, Jeffrey Young, Connor Murphy, Grace Murphy, Brendan Murphy, Gregory Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Marianne Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, and five great-grandchildren: Hudson Young, Nolan Young, Harper Young, Ainsley Young, Ryan Patrick Murphy, nephew Richard Hansen of Arizona, and niece April Sweet of Colorado.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 34 N. Summit Street, Pearl River, New York. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m.Friday, January 30th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 442 New Hempstead Road, New City, New York. Interment will follow at Rockland Cemetery, 201 Kings Highway, Sparkill, New York.
