Dear Karin and family,
We were so sad to hear of Henry's passing. Our family is really going to miss him. We met with him this past December and again this January to update our policies and to get a new policy for our 4 year old. We spent many hours just talking, laughing, and telling stories. We will really miss Henry's laughter, counsel, encouragement. We are happy that we knew him. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Dear Karin and family,
I know there are no appropriate words for what you are going through at this time. I send you all a big, warm and caring hug, an open heart and ears that will listen to whatever feelings you want to share. Take good care of yourselves, I know how difficult a time this is for all of you.

I opened the letter from NWM expecting another one of Henry's unique jokes or nudges to check my coverage. It had become a bit of a ritual over the years and allowed us at least a few communications a year since we moved from Richmond 13 years ago. To say that I was surprised is an under statement. Henry was a special guy and I will miss him. My deepest and heartfelt sypathies to the entire family. My prayers are with you.

to all the Fine Family -

It was with a heavy heart that Karen and I learned of the premature passing of Henry.

Henry was not only our financial advisor but he was also a friend. I am going to greatly miss our planning meetings that usually had more humor than business in them.

He is going to be sorely missed by all that knew him!!!

Dear Karin, Allison and Kevin,
I am so sorry for your loss. So many lives have been enriched for having known Henry. I had the pleasure of knowing him through developing the Special Needs program at NM. Henry's compassion and commitment to families with special needs was amazing. It was clear his work was a labor of love.
Having gotten to work with Henry, I had the pleasure of knowing a remarkably thoughtful person who went out of his way to make others smile. With a call or e-mail correspondence from Henry, one was assured either a smile or a laugh - usually both.
I hope you find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on in the many lives he has touched.
Henry brought meaning to his namesake as he leaves us with an outstanding example on how to be a fine human being.

Dear Karin, Allison, Kevin, and extended family.

My heart aches as my prayers and thoughts surround you with Love.

I was fortunate to spend a few years with Henry at VCU and honored to be invited to your wedding. I have many wonderful memories of Henry and every memory involves smiles and laughter. Henry had a way to make others smile and he possessed the rare gift of empathy. Every person he touched felt it.

When I received word of his passing I dropped my head and cried. We lost a good man.

It is my honor and privilege to know Henry and call him my friend.

Dear Fine Family -
This all seems so surreal. We are still in disbelief. Henry was one of the greatest guys. He was so grounded, down to earth and just so genuine. What a true gentleman he was! Always a smile and kind word for everyone. He was a giant of a man, and we will always remember him with great love and admiration. He will be sorely missed.

I met Henry only a couple of weeks ago when he met with my Dad and me. In that brief meeting, I felt the impact of the infectious and kind personality that all of those who eulogized him at the funeral spoke about. Like everyone I was shocked by Henry's premature passing, but he obviously touched many friends and family and made a difference in their lives. My wife's family doctor and close personal friend was Henry's godfather, and he too was kind and compassionate like Henry. My sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy go out to Jack and Bea and the entire Fine family.

Henry was the first student leaders I ever had the privilege to work with and he was unforgettable. Henry was the epitome of a mensch, a born leader, a faithful friend, a devoted Jew, and the king of the corny joke (for which he was especially loved). He was one of the finest students I have ever known and set the standard for all others. May his memory be a blessing to his family and all who had the honor to know him.

Henry was truly a wonderful man whose wit and intelligence he shared generously. I was fortunate to have met him while serving on Richmond Forum Board. I first met Henry a few years ago when my husband, also a NMFN representative, asked me to preview an article in a Dutch paper for Henry. From that point forward, he joked with me about "een oog" (one eye). Henry is one of those people in whose presence the world becomes a better place and whose absence will be like a room having the very air sucked out of it. I hope his family and friends will have some comfort in the memories of this "larger than life" man who was taken far too soon.

I join with so many others who knew Henry in offering my deepest sympathy on his passing. Although it is little consolation at this sad time, it should be of some satisfaction to know that in his passing you can celebrate the end of a very successful and productive life.

The measure of a life well-lived is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the sorrow they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on his loss is any indication, and it most certainly is, you can proudly and confidently say that his indeed was a life well-lived.

Jack, may your family and you find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew him and had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.

In Sympathy,

Roger Ernst, CLU, ChFC
