Henry Nicholas Gialluca, age 88, passed away Wednesday in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born April 20, 1922 in Canton, son to the late Nicholas and Mary (DiRienzo) Gialluca. He was a graduate of McKinley High School and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII as a S/Sgt radio operator in Troop Carrier Command. He was in the European Theater and participated in seven battle campaigns including the D-Day Invasion. Henry was awarded the Air Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Presidential Citation with oak leaf cluster and the Normandy Campaign Medal from the government of Normandy. He graduated from Kent State University earning a B.S. Degree and was a retired accountant with Gialluca & Gialluca Accounting. Henry was a member and former usher of St. Michael's Catholic Church and belonged to St. Michael's Men's Club, Unique Club of Stark County, American Legion and the 9th Air force Association. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. Gialluca; sister, Mil Guarendi and brother, Ernest Gialluca. He is survived by his three daughters, Barbara Bell of Newark, Ohio, Kathi Gialluca of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Denise (Eddy) Richter of Columbus; son, Mark (Kendra) Gialluca of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Cole, Grant and Troy Richter, Nicholas Gialluca; and two sisters, Eva LaRocco and Esther Ramogida. There are numerous nieces and nephews also surviving. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit as Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel.
