Honoring the Life of Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Henry Cleveland Huntsberry.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Henry Cleveland Huntsberry, age 86, of Hernando, Florida, who passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2024. A devoted father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, Henry served his country with honor and pride as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army.
Henry was born on Feb. 15, 1938, in Columbus, Georgia, to Walter Constance Huntsberry. Upon his graduation from the Virginia Military Institute, Henry was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was a decorated combat veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He honorably served his country for 23 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Henry was respected by his comrades and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
After his distinguished military career, Henry continued to serve his community through his work at the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. He was extremely proud of his work empowering Georgians with disabilities to live independent and rewarding lives.
In 2003, Henry retired to Citrus Hills, Florida where he turned his attention to his golf game. He was passionate about golf, and had three holes-in-one to his name. A proud member of the Bad Golfers Association, he was know as not only a good golfer, but even more so a gentleman. When he was not on the course, Henry was active member of Sheppard of the Hills Episcopal Church and volunteered at Citrus Memorial Hospital for over 15 years.
But above all, Henry valued every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Those who knew him remember his steadfast spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength.
Henry leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and resilience. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda; his brother, Patrick; his children, Scot and Beth; his grandchildren Jon Michael, Andrew, Jaime, Lauren, and Scott; and his great-grandson Jon Marcus – all of whom will forever carry his memory and values close to their hearts.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11 a.m., on Dec. 7 at Sheppard of the Hills Episcopal Church in Lecanto. Additionally, a service with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery to celebrate Henry's life and his commitment to his country and family.

I've played many rounds of golf with Henry as members of the MGA and the Oakies and had the pleasure of witnessing one of his two holes-in-one on the Oaks' number 12 hole. Henry was the epitome of a good guy and a true Southern Gentleman who lifted everyone he met. My condolences to Brenda and family. RIP Henry.

I played golf with Henry over the years. Whenever I play the 12th hole on the Oaks course (a par three) I like to tell our group that Henry had not one but two holes in one on that hole. A shot from the white tee of about 150 to 180 yards. RIP Champ.
