Henry Austin McCallister, Jr.

Henry Austin “Buddy” McCallister Jr, (85) aka (Pops) of Beckley passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Henry was born October 25, 1939, in Beckley to the late Henry Austin Sr, and Macil Fern Mann, McCallister.

Henry was survived by his wife Peggy Marcella Sexton, Bailey, McCallister. His Daughter Sonya McCallister Peters and husband James Peters of Beckley, WV. Stepson Kent Bailey and wife Sheila Bailey also of Beckley, WV. Ten Grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Three sisters Mary Lou Haley, Carol Smith, Sandy Gilkerson, and one brother Donald McCallister, and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was proceeded in death by his mother and father, two sisters Drema McCallister, and Martha Burleson, two stepsons Randall Lewis Bailey, and Richard Keith Bailey.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ayne Amjad, and Dr. Georges Karam, and Todd, along with Nurse Laquenta Lowe, and Kelli Crigger for their exceptional care and unwavering support. Henry thought the world of all of you.

Henry worked until he was 80 years old and loved every minute of it. From Coal Mining, owning his own tree service (B&M Tree Service,) truck driving, and maintaining the flowers for the Cline Family; he always had a smile on his face and mastered everything he did.

Graveside Services will be held Friday August 1, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Blue Ridge “Last Supper” Memorial Garden, officiated by lifelong friend Gary Eskins.
