Henry “Hank” Milgram
Passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023, at 96 years of age, with his loving wife by his side, at his resident in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
Henry enlisted to serve in World War II and was an Army Air Forces Veteran. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and then went into the family business.
Hank was a principal partner in one of the most well-known family theatre businesses in the country. Milgram co-owned the iconic block of three theatres in Center City, Philadelphia: The Fox Theatre, the Stage Door Cinema, and the Milgram Theatre, as well as the Avenue Theatre and the Uptown Theatre in North Philly. In New Jersey, his theatres included the Coronet in Westmont, Coronet in Audubon, the Tilton 9 in Northfield, and the Circle DI in Maple Shade, one of the first Jersey drive-in movie theatres.
One of his greatest joys was co-producing the Uptown Theatre's live stage shows, hosted by Georgie Woods, "The Guy with the Goods", in the 1960s and '70s. Many big stars appeared there, including Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Little Stevie Wonder (as he was known then), and The Supremes.
He co-owned and managed the 17 story Fox Theatres Building at 16th and Market St. which was home to all the major movie studios in Philadelphia sales offices at that time. The property was sold in 1980 and is now One Liberty Place. Mr. Milgram remained active in the business owning theatres and booking service for independent theatre owners with his son Bob. Mr. Milgram was very active in the Variety Club Charity for Handicapped and became President of the Philadelphia Chapter and Board Member and VP and Ambassador for the worldwide organization. He ran the annual telethons on Channel 6 to raise money for local handicapped children with hosts such as Joey Bishop and Monty Hall, a friend who was also an International President of Variety Club International. Known for his business acumen, he was invited to serve on the Board of Trustees of Hahnemann Hospital, and Board Member for Hahnemann’s Cardiovascular Institute (CVI), Moss Rehabilitation Hospital and many other organizations.
A Board Member and Past President of Sutton Terrace where he and his wife, Carol, resided for 25 years.
He very much enjoyed being a 45 year season ticket holder for Eagles and Phillies, and attending the games. He was an avid reader and loved tennis and golf.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Carol (nee Harkness). Father to Bob Milgram (Cheryl), Caroline Madden (Joe) and the late Jamy, grandfather to Jared (Lindsay) and Randi (Zachary), Grace, and Brogan. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren Hudson and Levi.
Family and friends are invited to a Graveside service Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 1:00pm at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Trevose, PA. Contributions in his memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dear Carol and family
I have many fond memories of Hank over the years. Working with him on the board of Sutton Terrace and mostly his amazing sense of humor. You were blessed to have this sweet man in your lives.
May his memory be blessed
