Henry Fred Owens, age 96, passed away Friday March 20, 2026 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
To those who knew him, he was the steady hand in a storm and the first to offer a smile when it was needed most. He lived his life with quiet dignity and unwavering kindness.
Fred was born in Brundidge, Alabama on September 18, 1929 to Henry Grady Owens and Mattie Eva (Dykes) Owens. He joined the United States Air Force at age 17, serving 20 years in Fire Protection. Immediately following his USAF retirement, he began a 23 year career with the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his cherished wife of 64 years, Mary Phyllis Owens. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Grady F. Owens, daughter-in-law Sharon Owens, grandson Keef Fred Owens, granddaughter Alexandra Celestial Owens and her husband Chris Infanti, and daughter Laura Ann Tate.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to other family members, friends and devoted caregivers for their love and support.
Services will be conducted at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508 on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:00 A.M.
Arrangements have been made through Emerald Coast Fort Walton Beach and Lohman Daytona Beach Funeral Homes.
