Henry Rousseau Obituary
He was born in Berlin, New Hampshire to Dorothy and Henri George Rousseau, and had an older sister Dottie.
Henry enlisted in the Air Force in 1950. Through a mutual friend while on leave, he met Mary on a blind date, and they subsequently married in October of 1956. Together with Mary, they raised 4 boys moving with the service as duty called.
His service took him to many duty locations including Alaska, New York, England, Vietnam, Texas, North Carolina, Germany, and South Carolina; many of these shared with the family.
Retiring with 28 years of military service in 1978, at a rank of Senior Master Sergeant, Henry and the family called Port Charlotte, FL home.
He continued to support his family, eventually retiring once again from Charlotte County Zoning Department after 11 years overseeing the introduction of a whole new street address system. He and his wife Mary were dedicated parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
In 2017, he and Mary moved to Orlando to be closer to family. Following Mary's passing, he relocated to Huntsville, Alabama, where he stayed until his passing.
Henry is preceded in his death by his wife of 63 years Mary (2018) and his son James (2023).
He is survived by his 3 sons Henry (Nancy), John (Barbara), Robert (Judy), Daughter-in-Law Eva. He also leaves behind nine Grandchildren, Christopher (Tasha), Nicholas (Rena), Kirsten (Rollin), Michael (Kristin), Elizabeth (Brandon), Ken, David, Emily (Ky) and Sydney (April).
Additionally, he is survived by eight Great-Grand Children, Vivienne & Stellan, Asher & Aliah, Kygan, Kyson & Emory, and Reya, along with numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Services for Henry will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2025. Visitation will be at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, Punta Gorda, FL from 9:00am to 10:00am.
Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte, Fl. at 11:00am. Graveside services to follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Fl.
In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude’s Charities in Henry's name.
