Henry (Hank) Schumacher passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on November 5, 1943, in New York, NY, to Henry (Heinrich) and Maria (née Storch) Schumacher.
After graduating from high school, Hank enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1961 - 1964. Upon his discharge, he began a long career in the banking industry in and around New York City as a commercial loan officer and bank branch manager. After retirement, Hank and his wife Margaret (Peggy) enjoyed life up in the Catskill Mountains for a few years before moving back to White Plains and eventually to Pittsburgh, PA, to be closer to their son, Henry. In retirement Hank enjoyed traveling with Peggy, making new friends and chatting up folks wherever he went, and spending time with family and friends (new and old). Hank will be lovingly remembered for his gregarious personality, his devotion to his family, and his willingness to help family and friends.
Hank is survived by his wife Peggy, his son Henry, Henry's wife Sarah Papperman, and many other loving family members.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday June 1, 2025 from 1 - 4pm at the Ballard-Durand Hawthorne Funeral Home (21 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532).
