Henry Hylan Scott, of
Conyers, Georgia passed away on December 21st, 2025 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
Hylan was born and raised in
Savannah, Georgia, the son of Henry Hancel and Blanche Mae Lawson Scott.
Hylan married the love of his life, Patricia Marie Dickey, on October 29th, 1962. Hylan held deep family values and was considered by many to be the salt of the earth. He and Pat raised four children and reveled in seeing their six grandchildren grow and thrive. After Pat's passing in 2011, Hylan never missed his grandchildren's life events and loved teaching them to ride their bikes and learn to drive.
During the family's early years, Hylan was a plant foreman at Wil-Mac Container Corporation in Conyers, where he developed many close friendships. He later moved to Smurfit-Stone Container.
Hylan and Pat were very involved with their church family at the Independent Church of God of Atlanta. His deep faith was the bedrock of his life.
Being an amateur photographer was one of Hylan's joys and many a squirrel or azalea was the subject of his lens. He loved watching the hummingbirds at his feeders and "drowning some worms" on a fishing trip with family. At home, he might be found bowling or golfing on his Wii or reading his Bible. He remained active after Pat's passing, attaining a CNA certification, acting as a Book Buddy at Pine Street Elementary, continuing to serve at church, and working at Publix after his retirement.
Hylan never met a stranger, and everyone was charmed by his open, honest smile and quick sense of humor.
Remaining to cherish Hylan's memory are: his brother Arthur Lawson Scott, children Lisa (Chris) Gregor, Henry Hylan Scott II, Lora (Gene) Garcia-Carreras, James (Heather) Scott, daughter-in-law Cheris Scott, dearly loved grandchildren Joseph, Helen, Elisa, and Lily Garcia-Carreras and Logan and Taylor Scott, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Hylan was preceded in death by his spouse Pat, parents Henry and Blanche, and sister Sandra Kay Sutton.
A Celebration of Life for Hylan will be January 24th 3:00 at 2371 Pleasantdale Rd,
