Rev. Henry Barker Sudduth Sr.

Henry will be missed deeply. He was a big part of my childhood from age 5 until he married me in 1996. His influence had a profound impact on the importance of bringing my children up in the Methodist Church. My prayers are with your family.

Sarah, John and I are very sorry to hear of Henry's death. We truly enjoyed our evening and afternoons visit going out to eat (Chinese) and other times. Remember our conversations regarding his Friday lunches !!!!

Rev Sudduth performed the marriage ceremony for our son's marriage,May 14th, l994. We have fond memories of him and you on that day and at Aldersgate.We're just sorry we hadn't seen him lately.

I worked with Henry when I was staff chaplain at the old Sentara Hampton General Hospital on Victoria Blvd back in 1996-1997. He was a kind and compassionate colleague. He will be missed.

What a wonderful man has left our midst. Rev Sudduth helped our family through a very bad time with the sickness of our much-loved Rosmary Lockard and her Mother, Willie Reinhart. We will never forget his many visits and uplifting words.

Sarah, Henry, Jr., Charles and Barry, Henry was, indeed, a "man for all seasons". He entered my life over 50 years ago for high school graduation service and through the years he was in our lives, personally, many times; baptism, Sunday morning services, marriage of Tracie and David. Always he gave his best and believed in his calling to serve his God. Each of you have had a very special man in your lives, and we as a church family shall miss him more than words can say. Always he had a smile and a kind word for each and every person. Surely, Henry will be planting his garden this spring in God's heaven, and, oh, the singing there will be. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr Sudduth was a sweetheart. He married Walter and I on the spur of the moment marriage, in his church on a holiday weekend. I really liked him from jump street. Some 25 years later, he has been a part of my family spiritually, and, I take comfort he is reaping his rewards in his heavenly home. God bless his family. He was a very fine man.

We will always remember Henry's loving smile, and gentle, sweet Spirit. He & Sarah have been the greatest neighbors that anyone could ever hope to have in a lifetime. Henry will be watching over all of us in his new heavenly home, with our Precious Lord. Sarah & Family, we will always be there for you, & will miss Henry deeply.
