Henry "Big June" Williams Jr.

Henry Williams, Jr., 83, of Brookwood, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his residence. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, beginning at 12 Noon, from Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00PM, with Bro. Gary Youngblood officiating. (Casual Dress is encouraged) Mr. Williams will be laid to rest at Little Hurricane Cemetery. Known by those who loved him as "Big June," Mr. Williams, was born January 20, 1942. He spent his whole life in the Brookwood area, he served his country while enlisted in the United States Army. He was a long-time employee of Abston Coal, where he worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. For many years he was an avid fan of drag racing, passing his love for racing to his sons. "Big June" was preceded in death by his father Henry Williams, Sr., mother Frances Williams Chadwick, sister Shirley Lunceford, brother Pete Williams as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of over 61 years, Judy Osborn Williams; sons Henry "Hank' Williams and Mark Williams (Tonya); grandchildren: Candace Williams Harris (Spencer), Carter Williams, Rachel Williams and Michael Hobson (Amber); great-grandchildren: Harvie Harris, Bartleigh Hobson and Tucker Hobson; sister Susie Williams; brother Charles Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Carter Williams, Spencer Harris, Shayne Anderson, Richard McMillian, Dennis Crawford, Larry Green, Chuck Williams and Jimmy Sellers. The family wishes to recognize The Osborn Family, Dr. John Warren, Dr. Phillip Hemstreet, Brookwood Police Department, Kevin & Jana Genery, friends and neighbors of the Brookwood community, former employees of Abston Coal and Holiday Beach Raceway friends as Honorary Pallbearers. With special mention to Danny Hubbard, who drove for Henry for many years and won numerous races at Holiday Beach Raceway as well as all over the United States. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests that memorial donations, in Henry's honor, be made to the charity of your choice.
