Herbert Branham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dudley Funeral Home on May 14, 2025.
Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Branham, 93, of Athens, Alabama, will be held at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 605 South Decatur Street, in Dublin, Georgia, on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 1 PM. Viewing will be available during the hour preceding the service. The family will receive friends at the Dudley Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 6 – 7PM.
It was a sunny Friday with a cloudless sky on September 18, 1931, when Herbert Branham was born to the late Caroline McCullar Branham and the late Elijah Branham Sr. Herb grew up following in his father's footsteps by building houses all over Dublin and East Dublin. He used these skills to build his own house in 1986; a 3,300 square foot 10-room house that was a showcase. He also had a garden with fruit and vegetables that he shared with the senior citizens of his church. Every summer they looked forward to the watermelons he gave them. He blessed their hearts. At age 19 he moved to New Jersey and attended an Auto Body training school. While in New Jersey he met and married the former Audrey J Smith. They were married on December 06, 1964. After graduating he worked at various body shops eventually owning his own shop in Dublin. Herb decided to return to Dublin in 1986 to be closer to his mother in her declining years. Herb and his wife relocated to Alabama to be near their son, when their sunset years were coming. Their daughter joined them soon after moving from Florida. Herb was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012.
He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 07, 2025. He leaves to mourn him his wife of 60 years Audrey Smith Branham, a son Gregory Stephen Branham, and daughter Valerie Charlotte Elizabeth Branham. He is preceded in death by Mother, Caroline McCullar Branham and Father Elijah Branham Sr., along with siblings: Layron Branham, Migadel Branham, Doris Branham, Harvey Branham, and Elijah Branham II. He is survived by siblings Lucile Ledbetter, Mattie Jean Carrow, Mildred Jackson, and Lillian Wright, as well as many nieces and nephew. He died in the hope of the soon coming of Christ and the Resurrection. Even so come Lord Jesus!
