Mr. Herbert Ray Capps, age 92
Of McEwen, TN passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Humphreys County Nursing Home. He was born September 17, 1932, in Hurricane Mills, TN.
A cherished member of the McEwen Church of Christ, Herbert was known for his unwavering dedication to his church and his commitment to living out his faith daily.
An Army Veteran, Herbert exemplified the values of honor and commitment. His military service was a testament to his character, having proudly served his country.
Herbert was a longstanding member of the McEwen Masonic Lodge for 50 years, where he cultivated enduring friendships and contributed to the organization's mission of brotherhood and community service. His unwavering commitment to these ideals was reflected in his daily actions and interactions with others.
Farming was not just a hobby for Herbert; it was a passion that defined much of his life. He found joy in the simple pleasures of tilling the soil and riding his tractor across the fields.
For many years, Herbert was an active participant at the McEwen Senior Citizens Center, where he engaged in social activities that enriched his life. He had a particular fondness for playing cards, especially Rook, where his sharp mind and quick wit ensured that laughter and camaraderie were never in short supply among friends.
Herbert Ray Capps will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Tuesday, March 4th and from 10:00am until service time Wednesday, March 5th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Capps will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Buttrey and Bro. Jim Suddeath officiating.
Interment will follow in Fews Chapel Cemetery in McEwen.
