Herbert Morgan Cothren Jr., 74, of Belvidere, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Thomas Hospital Rutherford Hospital Murfreesboro, Tennessee, surrounded by his loved ones. Jr was born on August 15, 1951, in Panama City, Florida to the late Herbert Morgan and Dorothy Ann Swinford Cothren. Jr was a Army Veteran and veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Morton Thiokol.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cothren was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Scott Cothren.

Jr is survived by his son, Richard Dewayne Cothren and his granddaughters, Morgan and Payton and grandson Cody, and two great grandchildren. His siblings include his sisters, Kathy (Terry) Sanders, Pam (Shorty) Hunter, Teresa (Teddy) Smith, and his brother Richard (Angela) Cothren and a host of nieces and nephews, and special recognition to niece Lorin Cothren Decker, for being there for "Uncle Jr".

A celebration of life will be held for Jr at the Pleasant Grove Community Center on 40 Pleasant Grove Rd. in Fayetteville, Tennessee on October 5, 2025, beginning at 2 PM.

Everyone has been so kind to reach out with encouraging words, food, visits and especially prayers for Jr. We know all of these acts of kindness and support helped sustain and encourage Jr in what turned out to be his final days. We, as a family, cannot thank each one of you enough for all you have done.
