His legacy with his wife, Joan (Yelenscics) Daugherty includes three children, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Born in Lumberton, North Carolina to Ava Grace (Parker) and Herbert H. Daugherty, Sr., Herb grew up in New Jersey where he attended New Brunswick High School (Class of 1956) and earned a Bachelor's Degree at Newark College of Engineering. He proudly attained his Professional Engineering license. His dedication to growth and education led to a successful career as an Electrical Engineer for Automatic Switch Company/Emerson Electric, travelling the world providing technical consultation in complex power generation. For more than forty years, Herb shared his knowledge and experience as President of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) and teaching for the George Rally School. For many decades, Herb contributed public service to the community as a Commissioner for Middlesex County Utilities Authority and as a Councilman on the Edison Township (NJ) Council. Herb's passion for travel led to a full passport and countless adventures in all fifty states and five continents enjoying local cuisine and custom. One could always count on him to recommend a unique restaurant in practically any city around the world where he had shared meals with his family, friends, or colleagues. In later years, he sailed aboard various cruises and closed every Disney park watching the fireworks. Herb and Joan settled in Heritage Isles of Melbourne, Florida in 2012, but "Herb Superb" faithfully rooted for the Giants and Mets. His memory lives on through his son, Brian Daugherty and family – Karen (Grandjean) Daugherty, Jamie Daugherty, Kristin (Daugherty) Giovannone (Christopher Giovannone), and great grandchildren Christopher (CJ) Giovannone, Audrianna Giovannone, and Olivia Giovannone; his daughter, Cathy (Daugherty) Johnson and family – Larry Johnson, Jules Johnson, Maggie (Is Amazing) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Christopher Johnson, and the memory of Nicholas Johnson; and his daughter, Bethanne (Daugherty) Cutshall and family – Allaire Cutshall, Allison Cutshall, and Chandler (Kip) Cutshall. The family will share remembrances privately at this time. We extend gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the many friends, relatives, neighbors, and healthcare professionals providing support in the past year.
