This is just so tragic. I´ve kept in touch with Herb since medical school and had breakfast with him last summer. He took me to his garden at his sister´s and picked some vegetables for me to take back to my family in Wisconsin. I didn´t think too much of it when he didn´t respond to my text a few months ago but was worried when he didn´t respond this week when I texted that my husband and I were coming to Minneapolis and hoped to see him. He was ALWAYS so excited and gracious with our visits. I googled him to find his address and instead found his obituary. What a devastating loss for this world.

Herb Jones, thank you for a short visit a few years ago when you were in San Francisco and for the cocktail at Absinthe on Hayes Street.
It had been years since we saw one another and a joy to catch up. Our mutual buddy, Chip Nadeau was our conduit.
Sorry that you are gone from this planet and that we did not get another chance to hang.
I always enjoyed our discourse.
I remember the NEON sign days and your "portfolio book" that you used for getting gigs.
You were quite ambitious and clever.
Your smile was infectious.

Herb was such a creative and thoughtful man, with an amazingly pure loving heart. His many talents were extraordinary to see and be a part of. He loved his cats so much, as we all loved him. We could talk for hours and it would feel as if only a minute had gone by. I miss you Herb.

Herb used to love to talk with me about wildlife and kitties. I volunteer with wildlife and at a small animal shelter in Elko New Market , MN. We would spend hours on the phone together. I would share with him photos of cottontail rabbits I was rehabbing, kitties we were fostering and baby raccoon photos. One day in the summer I had photographed a grass hopper named tomato. We wanted to write a children's book about it. Chris West and I love you very much Herb. God rest your soul!! Love Marion Hansen

A true Legend of the Isles, had the pleasure of playing outdoor hockey with Herb at Lake of the Isles for many years. He was an excellent hockey player. Such a kind person also, always enjoyed chatting with him. From all your hockey guys Herb we will miss you, peace be with you.

Herb was my swim buddy at Cedar Lake. We´d start at south beach and swim way out. When I was feeling low setting up a swim date with Herb was a great way to get me back on my feet. I will miss you.

First time I met him was at Duffy´s in the early 80´s with my siblings. He seemed so open, positive and interesting. Always was so happy to run into him at different places in Minneapolis. Just had a very thoughtful conversation via phone at Thanksgiving about the political upheaval worldwide. He was laughing easily and he sounded really good. Was so shocked and sad to hear the news. RIP Dear Herb. My condolences to Herb´s family and friends. Ellen Stramer Becker
