Herbert J. Morrison, affectionately known as "Hubert", was born January 8, 1949, in Lafayette, LA, and passed away at his home on June 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Edward Morrison and Safer (Morgan) Morrison. On March 4, 1973, he married Arma (Peltier) Morrison, and together they created a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
From a young age, Herbert worked as a chef at various restaurants in the Lafayette area, sparking a lifelong passion for cooking. Later, he worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola, bringing smiles and joy to everyone he met. In his later years, Herbert turned to real estate as a new career. He had a special place in his heart for those families who needed a place to call their own. Herbert's generosity extended beyond his wants and needs, as he dedicated much of his time in retirement volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, offering his gifts of kindness and expertise to all he came across. He was also a passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints and could often be found cheering them on from his living room or inside the Superdome as a 15-year season ticket holder.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arma Morrison, his children, and grandchildren, Daughter: Stephanie Peltier-Green (Marc) from Knoxville, TN, and children Nathan Green and Andrew Green, Son: Vick Peltier (Myra) from Huntsville, AL, and children Alyssa Peltier and Aidan Peltier, Daughter: Elise Morrison (Troy Mars) from Lafayette, LA., Son: Gregory Morrison (Jennifer) from Victorville, CA, and children. Herbert is also survived by his six siblings Emma Morrison, Rena (Sue) Francis, Lena Ledet (Harry), Jody Morrison (Jeanese Curtis), Delton Morrison (Anna Rae), Elizabeth Morrison, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Herbert is preceded in death by Edward Morrison (father), Safer Morrison (mother), Thelma Jean-Louis (sister), Johnny Morrison (brother), Curley Peltier (father-in-law), Alfredia Peltier (mother-in-law), Dalton Francis (brother-in-law), Wilbert Jean-Louis (brother-in-law), Stafford Peltier (brother-in-law), and Marvel Peltier (sister-in-law).
The visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 800 12th Street, Lafayette, LA 70501. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a reciting of the rosary at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral procession to Calvary Cemetary located at 355 Teurlings Dr., Lafayette, LA 70501.
