Herbert Ray Peak, 87, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at his residence. He was the loving husband of the late Stephanie Lee Brooks Peak for 30 years.

Born on October 8, 1938 in Halifax, he was a son of the late Robert Lawrence Peak and Bernice Puckett Peak. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert, Billy, Geraldine and Marguerite; and one grandchild, Dawn Peak Mills.

Ray was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He was a retired foreman in construction and was an avid fisherman, loved taking care of his dogs and going to flea markets always looking for a good deal. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Donna Peak Tucker (Charlie) of Forest, Glen Peak (Angie) of Bedford, Lawrence Alan Peak of Lynchburg, and Kenneth Kitchen of Forest; seven grandchildren, Danny Tyree, Wendy Ward, Justin Tucker, Shelby Peak, Hannah Peak, Sarah Peak and Trevor Peak; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Heritage Funeral Service 427 Graves Mill Road in Lynchburg. A private graveside service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Meals on Wheels or your favorite charity.
