Services for Mr. Herman Burges, 84, of Grand Saline, Texas, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Dean Neidholt officiating.
Interment will be in Corinth Cemetery.
Herman Burges, 84, passed away on November 14, 2025, at his home in Grand Saline. He was born on May 17, 1941, in Dallas, to Lemuel Herman and Opal Odessa Hollowell Burges.
Herman made Grand Saline his home for most of his life and was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed a long and successful career as an accomplished salesman with Pacesetter and Clayton Homes. A man of many talents and interests, Herman was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, loved to travel, and was musically gifted—playing piano and singing with the New City Quartet.
For a time, he worked as a realtor with Rayburn Country on Sam Rayburn Lake before returning home to operate his own home renovation business, which he owned for several years.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Pam Burges; daughter, Cristi Burges; stepson, Greg Wilson; and sister, Bobbie Perry.
Survivors include his son, Troy Burges of Grand Saline; daughter, Marcella Smith and husband Derek of Shreveport, LA; stepson, James Wilson and wife Angie of Forney; four grandchildren, Mandy Carroll of Grand Saline, Brittany Pugh of Tyler, Jonathan Phelps of Bossier City, LA; and Emily Kemp of Austin; four great-grandchildren, Julian Coonrod of Shreveport, Raleigh Brundidge of Tyler, Jack Coonrad of Shreveport, and Rythem Belvail of Tyler; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Smith, Ernest Veach, Steve Stamper, Danny Hollis, Alan Perry, and David Bullock.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
