Herman L. Summers, 92, of Depauw, Indiana passed from this life on March 21, 2024 at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville, Indiana, with loved ones by his side. Herman was born on November 7, 1931 in Weldon, Illinois to the late Perry Vice and Mattie (Wathen) Summers. He married June P. Bowman on November 26, 1952.
Herman was a former dynamite operator for Laborer's International Union of North America. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed attending the Milltown Christian Church and the King's Table. He was a former member of the Milltown American Legion Post #332.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June P. (Bowman) Summers; his daughter, Penny Pitman; a grandson, Travis Summers; a great-grandson, Walker Bevins and his sisters, Mary Linton, Emily Manship, and Geneva Summers Hammond.
Herman is survived by his son, Jerry L. Summers (Sharon M.) of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Ruth Ann Graves (David) of Sellersburg, Indiana; son-in-law, Rick Pitman; sister-in-law, Lorene Batman of Seymour, Indiana; grandchildren, Stacey, Josh, Summer, Joey, Kayla, Matt, Kevin, and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, Tara, Tyler, Trenton, June, Evelyn, Mary, Elijah, Hattie, Gracie, Shiloh, Saleh, Grayson, Sadie and Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. E.D.T at the Milltown Christian Church, 214 E. Main Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145. Interment will follow in the Milltown Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 11:00 am until time of the service at 2:00 p.m., also at the church.
Dee Sweeney will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions can be given to the Milltown Christian Church, 214 E. Main Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145, In Loving Memory of Herman L. Summers.
