Herman Thompson

1936 - 2022

Herman Thompson, age 86 of Painesville, died on July 11, 2022 at TriPoint Hospital. He was born on April 19, 1936 in Crawfordsville, Arkansas to the late Isaac and Allie (nee: Brewster) Thompson. Herman retired in 1996 after 33 years of employment with ODOT, where he was a manager and had served as the Union President. He was known as "Herman the Barber" and loved baseball, taking photos, working word scrambles, and working in his flower and vegetable gardens. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Herman is survived by his children, Arleen, Curtis, and Michael Thompson; grandchildren, Akiya Jackson, Alandra, Darcel, Vanity, Michael Jr., Deanna, Amber, James, Johnathan, and Clarissa Hereford; 9 great grandchildren; and siblings, Beulah Nelms, Rita Thompson, Rosie Mitchell, and Dorothy Benford. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Earnestine Thompson; son, James Albert Thompson; and siblings, Louis, Louise Thompson, Ozie Autman, Sherman, George, Isaac, Clarence, and Clara Thompson. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 5-6PM with the funeral service following at 6:00PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077.
