His Story: Mr. Herman Tigner was born on May 1, 1941, in Hogansville, Georgia, to a proud and hardworking family rooted in faith, tradition, and community. He peacefully departed this life on July 25, 2025, surrounded by love and memories that spanned generations.
A longtime resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Herman dedicated his life to service, both professionally and personally. He built a respected career with the DeKalb County Public School System, where he served faithfully as a Custodial Supervisor. For decades, Herman brought not only cleanliness and order to the schools he served, but also kindness, respect, and wisdom that left a lasting impression on both staff and students alike. His work was more than a job - it was a ministry of care, discipline, and community pride.
Herman was known for his steady spirit, strong work ethic, and his deep sense of responsibility. His warm smile and humble presence touched the lives of many. He was a mentor to the young men who worked alongside him, a helping hand to anyone in need, and a loyal friend to all who knew him.
Outside of his career, Herman loved his family deeply and lived a life rooted in faith, service, and simplicity. Whether gathered around a meal, working in his yard, or sitting quietly reflecting on the world, he carried himself with quiet dignity and grace.
He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of honesty, integrity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
