Hermon Scott Powers, 63, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Heath Lloyd officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at 10 AM. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Garden.

Scott was born in Randolph County to Hermon Powers and Dorothy Lynn Hill Powers.

In Scott's earlier life, he worked for his family's air conditioning and heating business, and then he also did other types of jobs in his life. He could fix anything that was broken and make it work again. But, during his life, most of his job was taking care of his Grandfather and Grandmother Hill as long as they lived their lives, and Scott was a very important Grandson to them while they were living.

He is preceded in death by Worth Garner Hill, his Grandfather and Myrtle Beane Hill, his Grandmother. Hermon Powers, Father, and Susie Power, Aunt.

Scott is survived by his companion of 38 years, Keith Bates; mother, Dot Hill Powers; and his sister, Lydia J. Jewel, and cousins Jill Hill, Becky Beane, Cindy, and Mike Hill.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockingham County Animal Shelter at 250 Cherokee Camp Road, NC 27320.

Pallbearers: Wayne Bates, Chris Bates, Cody Bates, Austin Bates, Richey LaPrad, and Daniel Bates.
