Herschel Haire, 76, of Attapulgus, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Herschel Haire was born April 17, 1949, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Henry & Ann Glass Haire. He married the love of his life, Sherry Hodges, in 1968, and they made southwest Georgia their home. Herschel was a member of Philadelphia Church of God.
Herschel had an unmatched work ethic. Some described this as being a workaholic. He gave 100% effort to everything, whether running the store, working in the yard, or carpentry projects. His customers became lifelong friends knowing they could bank on Herschel being a man of his word. He was skilled in the workshop, building or repairing most anything he put his mind to. As a man defined by productivity, even his favorite hobby (tending his yard) was considered “work” by many.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sherry Hodges Haire; his daughter, Sherry Haire Weaver and her husband, Randy; his granddaughter, Zoey; his great-grandchildren, Greyson & Oliver; his siblings, William Haire, Jerry Haire (Mary), Sandra Black (Ronnie), and Mike Haire (Marvella); and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Herschel was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon, and his siblings, Roger Haire, Troy Haire, and Lisa Haire.
Honoring Herschel’s wishes, no public services will be held. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.bryantfuneralga.com.
