View the tribute video here: http://videos.lifetributes.com/688902 Hershel Johnson, age 88, of Paragould, formerly of Manila, passed from this life Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born in Vidette, Arkansas he was the son of the late Nelson and Odessa Crots Johnson and was raised in the Manila area. He had lived much of his life in Flint, Michigan where was employed by General Motors for over 30 years. Following his retirement in 1980, he returned to Manila where he enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and gardening. He had been a Paragould resident since 2008. Hershel was a member of the former New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Manila. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Lee Shrable, Jack Shrable, Goldman Shrable, and Woodrow Shrable and 2 sisters; Leucretta Ray and Marie Woodhouse. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Glenda Wilkey Johnson of the home 1 son, Danny Johnson of Linden, Michigan 1 daughter, Billie Britt of Cordova, Tennessee 1 brother, Ray Peters of Paragould. He also leaves 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday April 5, 2016 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Bill Warren and Rev. Linda Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home.
