Hershell Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Inc. - Madisonville on Feb. 1, 2026.
On Thursday, January 29th, 2026 Hershell Eugene Moore, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he loved most-his family. Anyone who knew Hershell knows he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We will remember a man whose life was defined by love, generosity, and unwavering faith. Hershell had an extraordinary capacity for love that touched everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He loved every person he met, approaching each new acquaintance with an open heart and genuine interest. This wasn't just a casual affection-Hershell was the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His generosity wasn't calculated or conditional; it flowed naturally from who he was at his core. Among life's pleasures, Hershell found particular joy in the tranquility of nature. He cherished his time in the woods, hunting and fishing-not just for the sport, but for the quiet communion with creation that these activities allowed. These moments in nature seemed to mirror something essential about Hershell himself: patient, observant, and deeply connected to something greater than himself. He enjoyed talking to his sister Pam and family for hours on the phone, loving on his grandbabies, along with telling anyone who would listen about his love and passion for God. Hershell once was asked a question by his grandson Weston-Jay in 2020 to stop smoking, after seeing the look in his eyes he immediately stopped. In the end it blessed every one of us with more time and memories to cherish and love . Hershell was welcomed in Heaven by his Father Hershell Eugene Moore, Sr. and his mother, Beatrice L. Jotie. He leaves behind his beloved wife Becky Moore; his two daughters, Rachell Ortega and her husband, Joe Ortega, of California, and Crystal Moore; his three sisters, Freda, Geanie, and "his favorite sister" Pam! His brother Jimmy Moore; Goddaughter's, Audrey Osborn and LeAnna Wooten. He leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren, Avery Yearwood (6), Paisen Yearwood (10), Weston-Jay Yearwood (11), Lynndella Baker (13), Dakota Baker (15), Jesse James (21), and Aubrelle James (20), who is expecting Hershell's first great grandson, Grayson, in May. God sons, Tucker Wooten (0), Elijah Weed (8), Colten Wooten (9), and Noah Osborn (15) . Each of them was a blessing he held close to his heart. The service will be held privately.
